The Family Vacation

by Kris Coffin Stevenson
This is a story about choices. The main character in this story is you, and at certain places you will be asked to make a choice. Read the choices and then click on the link for the decision you've chosen. Once you've come to an END, go back and read the story again, making different choices this time. There are 12 choices that you can make and 11 different endings. Happy choosing!

It was that time of year again—you and your brothers and sister had gotten out of school for the summer holidays and BAM! there you were with nothing to do , and boy , were they getting on your nerves. There was big brother Arthur , who was going into his senior year in high school and was sure he knew everything. You and your brother Clarence called him Smart Art behind his back , and it wasn't exactly a compliment. Clarence , two grades behind you—in the sixth grade—could be fun sometimes , but he had a bad habit of telling Mom every time you didn't let him have his way. And finally , there was Judy. She was only 9 , but she could giggle like a champ. It drove you crazy. So when Mom and Dad suggested a family vacation on Oh Bay for a week , you were glad you were going to have something to do. But you knew that your brothers and sister were going to botch it up for you.

The preparations were finally complete , the big week had come , and everyone was choosing seats for the trip. You suddenly realized you were faced with a big choice—sit with Clarence and listen to his silly kid chatter , or sit with Art and listen to his silly adult chatter. The problem with sitting with Clarence was that he usually got you both in trouble somehow. But Arthur could be so boring , especially when he talked about the accounting procedures he was learning in his honors business class.

If you want to sit with Clarence , go to Letter A.

If you want to sit with Arthur , climb into the car at Letter B.
