Lesson 5 - Reflecting God''s Image

You finish the scenes: Scene 1: Liz was a girl in school whom everyone liked. Always nice to everyone, Liz would walk through the hallways every day with a smile on her face, saying hello to everyone. Liz also had a wonderful singing voice, which she used to sing in church and in the school choir. One day she was practicing in the music room for special music when one of the younger students came noisily into the room. Liz stopped what she was doing. What did she do to reflect Christ? Scene 2: Vaughn was a student whom other students looked up to. He could often be found playing ball with people who weren’t even very good. During some free time Vaughn and some students were playing ball. Some friends invited Vaughn to play with them in a basketball game. They were exclusively asking Vaughn and not the other players. What did Vaughn do to reflect Christ?

Lesson 4 - Created In God''s Image

Emily can’t help noticing how much attention Ginger gets from everyone in school. Everyone loves her long black hair and thinks she is beautiful; and she’s so kind it’s almost painful. Every day Emily sits behind Ginger and thinks: She is perfect and I’m so average! She desperately wants to look like Ginger, so she dyes her hair and starts trying to dress like Ginger. If Emily were one of your friends or acquaintances, what would you do or say to encourage her? What is she missing? What would be your approach to helping Emily?

Lesson 3 - Coping With Guilt And Fear

All these years later, it’s easy to sit here and judge the people in those apartments. We can sit in the safety of our homes and say someone should have done something, raced down the steps and rescued the woman, aided her in some way. Or at least called 911. But put yourself in the same situation. Imagine you’re sitting at home and your peaceful evening is interrupted by the screams of a woman being stabbed to death. You run to the window to see what’s happening. At the sight of the attack, you are overcome with emotion, feelings of fear, anger, injustice, and surprise. What do you do? Do you help the woman? Do you let your own fear get the best of you? Would guilt affect your actions? What holds do guilt and fear have on your life?

Lesson 2 - Handling Emotions

You all know that Jesus has experienced every emotion you have and you can go to Him with your problems. You don’t need to be told that; you’ve heard it all your life. But it’s not that simple. It can be hard to identify with Jesus, someone you can’t really see or hear. Ideally we should all just bring our problems, emotional and otherwise, to Him and that would be it. We would be at complete peace. However, sometimes it’s easier to connect with a friend or even a song. Honestly, do you feel that Jesus can empathize with what you feel? Why or why not? Who do you feel truly understands you? What makes someone or something easier to identify with than someone or something else?
