Guide Star Search

OK, here's what's up. We're getting ready to make a dvd aimed at encouraging people to send Guide Magazine to kids who aren't getting it. And we need a "star" for our production! If you are that person, we will fly our camera crew to your house and capture your story on film.

So, just what kind of person are we looking for? Someone whose life was impacted in a big way by Guide Magazine. Maybe you chose to follow Jesus after reading a story in Guide. Or maybe you even decided to get baptized in no small part because of the magazine. Perhaps you used the magazine to bring someone else to Jesus, or at least to church!

If you or someone you know has a story that you think would make people realize how valuable Guide can be in turning hearts toward Jesus, please let us know. Send us your name and tell us just a little bit of your story. Please click on the link below. And thanks!

P.S.--if you know of someone else whose story might work, please tell us about that person too, and we can contact them ourselves. (Parents are welcome to "nominate" a child!)

Heads Up: A Word About "The Golden Compass"

What in the World is Going On?

Within the last few days a powerful cyclone hit the country of Bangladesh. At present, the human death toll stands at 3,300.

Citizens were warned about the approaching cyclone, but not everyone chose to heed the warning. USA Today reported that Mridha, a 45-year-old farm worker, wept as he spoke. "Nothing is going to happen. That was our first thought and we went to bed. Just before midnight the winds came like hundreds of demons. Our small hut was swept away like a piece of paper, and we all ran for shelter."

If you think natural disasters are increasing, you are right (click on the link below to see this graphically illustrated). Inspired writer Ellen White wrote over 100 years ago that this is all part of a devilish strategy: "Satan works through the elements . . . Even now he is at work. In accidents and calamities by land and by sea . . . in floods, CYCLONES, tidal waves, and earthquakes, and in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his power" (The Great Controversy, pp. 590, 591).

There's much more than global warming behind today's frequent natural disasters. Each day's news stories remind us that Jesus is coming again.
