Q. I have a long-lost cousin who doesn’t show any interest in religion. How can I witness to him?

A. Witnessing to friends and family members who don’t seem to have an interest in God can be tough. The best thing you can do for a person like this is to pray that God will bring about circumstances in their life that will cause them to be interested in religion. Unless a person sees a need for a relationship with God , there’s not a whole lot anybody can say or do to persuade them. So you really need to pray a lot for your cousin.

The next most important thing is to show you care , be a good friend , and be there to help your cousin whenever you can. As he sees your kindness and other Christian characteristics , he will wonder what makes you so different from everybody else. Then when you have the opportunity , you can tell Him about your friend Jesus and how He has made your life better.

If you have the chance sometime , and he seems willing to go , invite your cousin to church or maybe to attend a Pathfinder club meeting or youth meeting with you. But don’t push. If he thinks you’re trying to force religion on him , he’ll shy away. God bless you as you share your faith!
